Between Melting Faces
Everyone has a face with its own story. We come across so many of them, sometimes in the same person we see everyday. Sometimes, we look upto them and on some occasions, we look down upon them when we can't find the answers that we are looking for.
And all it takes is a lie to melt them away.
The human face has always been given utmost importance, unfortunately. We have people from all walks of life focusing on this part of the body more than anything. There are faces that move nation and then there are those that simply make your mornings, a tad bit brighter. It doesn't matter what you feel, one look at this face may make you smile that quickly. We look for answers, for questions, for hopes, for reality, for the unspeakable truth in that face. What comes out is more often than not, too much to handle.
We believe this face. We trust it to take us forward in life. We trust it to be there during the sad and hard times as well. But a certain reality always lurks somewhere - of that of a lie. It’s another matter when we find the person is lying, when we know the truth behind it.
What do you do when you find the face in front of you, is just a mask?
I became such a casualty only recently. This was one thing I desperately needed and staying in the city taught me exactly that, thankfully. Living alone in the city allows you to observe people in a far better manner and how you can handle them. Most of them are out to make you do things their way. They will not consider your likes, your feelings. As long as you are doing things their way, you are in their good books. The moment you merely stop following their gentle gestures, do you fall in their other book, a book where you become more of a topic for conversations.
|As the face melts|
Here’s what you do when you know the other person is lying - You Smile.
Smile at their ignorance, their arrogance, their inability to treasure you, their inability to face you if they confessed. Smile at their future for it will be one without you. Smile and take pity on them and hope good sense prevails and they make amends. Smile as you walk away and keep it that way. For they will misunderstand you when you go away, not knowing their own self and how they let you down. When you leave without any reason, they will not get it. They will fight the feeling and think that lying to you back then was justified. Let them.
Keep that awesome smile on your face. For a smile says the world when words fail.
